The PIN establishes guidelines for the secure configuration of Microsoft Copilot for Work (Web Browser Chat Based Application) in Canadian government institutions. It came into force on 1 February 2025 and applies to all institutions subject to the Policy on Service and Digital. It requires the activation of specific security settings such as Enterprise Data Protection and authentication with government identities. It should only be used with unclassified information.
